Ah, that clears it up now. I was ascended when I went back to Augury. I thought the bug was just "go back in and get experience any time"

I don't believe the creator of the original thread should have been banned. I don't know what the logs say, but from what he said, he did it once a lvl18 and once more after Ascension to confirm.

I am personally against banning something for something like this. I see as expost facto; the Vengeance bug was an exploit and abused by all the top guilds in GvG. Were they reprimanded? No. It even took ANet, with their "Live Updates" one week to fix.

However, we have another exploit in PvE that gives them a great amount of EXP. Were they reprimanded? Yes, and to an extreme degree. ANet only took a couple hours to notice and a little more time afterward to fix it.

I don't agree with the bannings not because it's a bad idea, but because it doesn't follow the precedent set before it. The top guilds can get away with it, but the rest of the crowd is subject?

You're right. Bans like this will discourage players from reporting bugs in the first place. The only way to find the bug is if it is exploited, and because they have used the exploit, they can get banned. This can only hurt ANet.

Arena net as you guys can see Blizzard moved their hands against blizzhackers and forced em to shut down all their forums based on hack their games and even made em change their site name ... i think you guys need to caught blizzhackers now before it be too late ... these geeks are greedy for $$$ and ruining this game to acquire it for those who sadly spent $$$ on a game is no limits for em ... I'm not going to bother with reading the rest of this thread, but I figured it'd be worth it to voice one simple piece of logic: If you sign a contract, you are bound by it.

Now get out the noob tissues, because that's the only thing left to comfort you.

Somebody "stumbling along" the exploit would not have gotten banned. Just the morons who, say, did it 20-30 times in a row

To say that no one could have thought that is stupid.
Didn't they have to go out of their way to exploit it, like exit during the cutscene or something (I don't really know exactly what triggered it )

If someone went out of their way several times to abuse it, they are definitely not "an innocent newbie"

However, if it was easy, convenient, or natural to go "use" the bug, then it is entirely possible ONE OR TWO newbs got caught in the crossfire

Sure, some could have thought that. But such a small fraction would have

You honestly don't see how someone ascending for the first time may of exploited the bug without actually knowing it was an exploit? Are you that dense? Everyone was fully aware that the essence bond/lifebond thing was an exploit, that vengeance was bugged and easily able to be exploited, both gave them an insane amount of power. This is a bug that people actually did legitimately exploit unknowingly.

So true, but we didn't agree to the TOS when we purchased guildwars from any store selling it(of which no stores allow refunds on computer games)
It's you're an idiot, not "your an idiot". Sorry whenever they let guilds get their entire rank due to bugged skills like vengeance they sure give the impression that they're letting things go. Oh I suppose getting your guild to a very high rank is something you'd say "Whoop-de-do" over but some people actually do care about the ladder more than some people being able to unlock skills a little easier than the rest of us.
your talking like the exploiters didnt know they were exploiting. yes they did. They exploit was to quit guild wars durring the cut scene, and the exploiters did it lots and lots of times. Its like saying oh no you guys hacked but its our fault so you guys dont get banned.

For one thing, if they did finish Ascention, then the exploit wouldn't work. So your example is pointless.

Second, you agree to the TOS when you peel the shrinkwrap off the box. You buy the game fully aware that the second you open it, you agree to it. If you wanted to read it, you could've asked Anet for a copy. If you didn't bother/skipped over it/skimmed it/read it but didn't give a flying f, then guess what?

Deal with it.

Instead of giving petty bickerings in forums and inciting flame wars (which breaks yet another agreement you agreed to when you signed up for this forum), how about taking your argument to the devs? Have you even bothered to try that? Huh?

Until you do, until you take things upon your own shoulders and decide to do things for yourself (like take your argument to Anet instead of here), you'll only show that you're nothing more than a whiner. You even got an answer from one of the devs here, and it's still not enough.

Take it to them if you're gonna be so adamant. It's not like we can do anything about it anyway. Hell, if your intentions were to get the attention of the devs, there's a little bit quicker way and you know exactly where I'm talking about.

Haha the original poster makes me laugh.

Like anyone in their right mind would think doing ascension multiple times for 50k exp isn't exploiting.

Anyone who seriously thinks that should be banned for stupidity.

ANYWAY I accidentally exploited this on my friends account. He was having trouble beating his mirror, a r/me, so I got onto his account to do it for him.

The first time I got owned, the second time, I died, HOWEVER chaos storm ended up killing him. SO it gave me the 50k exp and teleported me back to augury.

GG accidental exploitation .

He hasn't been banned yet though so it should be fine.

You sign the TOS after you buy the game, not before.

The devs don't care, There's no PR for the PvP side of the game, only for the PvE side.

And you know the devs won't care because.....?

Prove it. Take it to them. Quit whining.

And please read the post instead of just quoting and typing crap. I said when you peel the shrinkwrap off the box. If you're peeling the shrinkwrap off the box before you buy it, you're in for a world of hurt by a store manager.

That's like saying, because I left my house unlocked and my door open that I am to blame for your walking by and coming into my house to steal!! Are you tarded?? You have an inherent nature to steal or be dishonest and my open door just makes it easier for you.
No game is bug free early on and to tell me that those players who "discovered" an exploit or looked for and found one were lead that way by Anet.......is not only ignorant but I can't believe you even had....wait....you probably were one of those banned so I guess I can believe you'd actually bitch about it.

You agreed to the terms, you live by your word, you step out of line....don't bitch when you get smacked down.

No.So the people who were exploiting obiviously knew they were.
I went and rebeat my mirrior yesterday after the 50K p change just to see what happened .

BTW I got 100 xp for beatinng a lvl 20 monster.

As for redoing quests I redo The Great Northen Wall whenever I'm bored. Its quite nice to crush the char at the end all by yourself.

No, it's like someone handing you a million dollars and then the next day you get arrested for robbing a bank.
